Wilson - 7th Kind Tenor Sax
To track the Tenor Sax, I used a mic setup similar to the Alto Sax. I placed the Large Diaphram Condenser at the lower keys (an MXL V67g), at about 2.5 feet away - aimed at the side of the sax. And just as in the placement for the Alto, I used a smaller diaphram condenser on the upper keys (an SM-81) at about 1 foot away, from a slight angle above the sax, aimed at the side of the instrument.
When placing the mics for both saxes, I set the small diaphram mics up first, then adjusted the distance of mics aimed at the lower keys in order to make sure these lower key mics were in phase with the mics aimed at the upper keys.
